Harry Styles’ Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally. Spends Second Week at No. 1 on Billboard 200

Harry Styles continues his lead run on the charts as his latest album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally., secures a second consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Released on March 6, 2026, the project moved 99,000 equivalent album units in its second week, maintaining the top position after a massive opening performance.

The album launched with over 400,000 units in its first week, marking one of the biggest debuts of 2026. The follow-up total of 99K represents a typical second-week drop for a major release but remains strong enough to still hold the lead.

With this achievement, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally. becomes Harry Styles’ fourth consecutive No. 1 album in the United States. This consistency places him among a select group of artists who have maintained a flawless streak at the top of the Billboard 200 in recent years.

Harry Styles is an English singer, songwriter, and actor who first rose to global fame as a member of the boy band One Direction. Following the group’s breakout, he launched a solo career that has been defined by artistic evolution and commercial success.

His previous albums including Harry Styles (2017), Fine Line (2019), and Harry’s House (2022), have all debuted at No. 1 in multiple countries, producing global hits and earning critical acclaim. Known for blending pop, rock, and retro influences, Harry Styles has established himself as one of the most influential artists of his generation.

Fireboy DML’s Playboy Album Hits 1 Billion Streams on Spotify

Fireboy DML has reached another career defining milestone, as his third studio album Playboy officially surpasses 1 billion streams on Spotify.

Released in 2022, Playboy represented a shift, a more assured, internationally aware version of Fireboy, without losing the melodic identity that first set him apart. It was an album built on intention.

Standout tracks like “Bandana” featuring Asake and the global hit “Peru” boosted further by its remix with Ed Sheeran, played a central role in the album’s worldwide reach. But beyond the hits, Playboy has thrived on consistency, with multiple tracks contributing to its steady rise in streams.

Now, it joins one of the most exclusive benchmarks in Nigerian music today.

Nigerian Projects With Over 1 Billion Spotify Streams

The billion-stream mark has increasingly become a measure of global impact for Nigerian artists. With Playboy crossing that threshold, it now sits alongside some of the most successful Afrobeats projects of the streaming era:

Rave & Roses (Ultra) — 3.26B (Rema)
Love, Damini — 1.59B (Burna Boy)
The Year I Turned 21 — 1.3B (Ayra Starr)
Boy Alone (Deluxe) — 1.3B (Omah Lay)
African Giant — 1.24B (Burna Boy)
Made in Lagos (Deluxe) — 1.16B (Wizkid)
CKay The First (EP) — 1.04B (CKay)

Unlike projects driven purely by viral moments, Playboy success has been gradual and sustained. More broadly, the growing number of Nigerian projects hitting this mark underscores a larger shift which is becoming a norm in the Nigerian music industry.

Two Quran Audio Albums Chart in Nigeria Apple Music Top 40 for the First Time

For the first time ever, two full Qur’an recitation albums are currently charting on the Nigeria Apple Music Top 40 Albums chart, marking a rare moment where spiritual audio sits alongside mainstream music releases.

According to the latest Nigeria rankings on Apple Music, the following albums are charting:

At #22 — The Holy Quran by Saad El Ghamidi

At #33 — The Holy Quran (Complete) by Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais

Both projects are complete audio recitations of the Qur’an in Arabic and have been available on streaming platforms for years. However, this is the first recorded instance of two Qur’an recitation albums simultaneously appearing within Nigeria’s Top 40 Albums chart; a space typically dominated by Afrobeats, hip-hop, gospel, and international pop releases.

Saad El Ghamidi and Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais are among the most recognized Qur’an reciters globally. Their recordings are widely streamed during religious seasons such as Ramadan and other spiritually significant periods, often seeing noticeable spikes in listenership.

The development highlights how streaming platforms are increasingly reflecting not just entertainment trends, but also faith-based and devotional listening habits among Nigerian users.

While Apple Music’s charts update regularly and positions may shift, the current appearance of both albums in the Top 40 signals strong demand for religious audio content on mainstream music platforms especially in this Ramadan season.

If sustained, this could mark a notable moment in Nigeria’s digital listening culture;  where devotion is charting alongside pop.

Beautiful Nubia Accuses Yinka Ayefele and BBO of Allegedly Stealing “Seven Lifes” Melody

Veteran Nigerian folk musician Beautiful Nubia (Segun Akinlolu) has publicly accused prominent gospel artists Yinka Ayefele and BBO of lifting the melody of his 2001 classic track “Seven Lifes” without credit.

In a post on X on February 19, 2026, the Roots Renaissance Band founder wrote:

There was Yinka Ayefele with ‘My Faith in God (Igbagbo Ireti)’ in 2012 and now someone called BBO with ‘Amin’ this year. Both stole their melodies from our original song ‘Seven Lifes’. When will Nigerians (especially the so-called gospel musicians) learn to respect copyright?

The post quickly went viral, drawing hundreds of likes, reposts, and dozens of comments in a matter of hours.

“Seven Lifes”, released on the album What a Feeling! in the early 2000s, is one of Beautiful Nubia’s most enduring works. The song blends Yoruba lyrics with rich instrumentation and philosophical undertones, celebrating African resilience, survival, and spiritual strength. Its folk-infused style has influenced generations of Nigerian musicians.

The current controversy focuses on two gospel tracks. Yinka Ayefele’s “Igbagbo Ireti” (My Faith in God, 2012) has long drawn attention for melodic similarities to “Seven Lifes,” with many describing it as a gospel reinterpretation of Nubia’s classic. The more recent BBO release, “Amin” (2026), sparked Nubia’s public statement. X users highlighted what they called a “glaring” resemblance, with some joking that they could almost sing Nubia’s lyrics over BBO’s track. Streaming algorithms even queue the two songs together in certain searches, amplifying the perceived connection.

Fans on X have rallied behind Beautiful Nubia, expressing frustration over uncredited borrowing in Nigerian music. Many urged legal action, praising Nubia as a legend whose work should not be disrespected. Others referenced Ayefele’s past controversies, including alleged heavy sampling of late highlife legend Orlando Owoh across an entire album. A minority of commenters argued that the similarities are exaggerated or fall under artistic inspiration, noting that musical ideas are often recycled.

This incident underscores ongoing challenges in Nigeria’s music industry, including weak protection for older compositions, the fine line between homage, interpolation, sampling, and plagiarism; especially in gospel music borrowing folk melodies and social media’s growing role in giving veteran artists a direct platform to call out perceived theft.

Ironically, “Seven Lifes” is now experiencing renewed attention in 2026, thanks to the tracks accused of borrowing from it. Whether this dispute leads to legal action, public apologies, or sparks broader industry reform remains to be seen.

Asake Makes History with Four Projects in Apple Music Nigeria Top 10

Asake has added another historic achievement to his already impressive run, becoming the first Nigerian artist to have four separate projects simultaneously ranked inside the Apple Music Nigeria Top 10 albums chart.

The milestone highlights not just the success of his latest release, but the continued popularity of his entire catalogue,  proving his music isn’t just trending; it’s lasting.

According to the latest Apple Music Nigeria rankings, Asake occupies four spots in the Top 10:

  • #1 — REAL
  • #6 — Work of Art
  • #8 — Mr. Money With The Vibe
  • #9 — Lungu Boy

Holding the No. 1 album while three previous projects also remain in heavy rotation shows how deeply his music continues to resonate with listeners across Nigeria.

What makes this moment significant is that the albums span different phases of Asake’s career.

Mr. Money With The Vibe introduced him as a disruptive new voice in Afrobeats. Work of Art followed with global hits that confirmed his staying power. Lungu Boy expanded his sound while keeping his street-pop appeal intact.

Now, REAL ft Wizkid sits at the top of the chart, driving renewed interest in his earlier work and pushing multiple projects back into the streaming spotlight.

Few artists manage to dominate charts with both new and older projects at the same time; a sign of catalogue strength rather than just release-week hype.

Asake’s rise since his breakout under YBNL has been defined by consistency. His fusion of Afrobeats, amapiano bounce, Fuji influences, and street-ready hooks has helped him maintain a strong connection with listeners.

The current chart performance suggests fans are not only consuming new music but also revisiting past albums, keeping them competitive against newer releases from other artists.

In just a few years, Asake has gone from breakout act to one of the most commercially dominant artists in Nigerian music. This latest Apple Music record further strengthens his position as one of the defining artists of his generation.

With REAL currently leading the charts and his catalogue still thriving, the bigger question now is how long his multi-album dominance will last and what record he breaks next.

For now, one thing is clear: Asake owns the moment on Nigeria’s streaming charts.
