We are officially three years into the DCU helmed by James Gunn and Peter Safran. The new attempt at a cinematic universe was promised to deliver multiple stories in different tones and styles across multiple media. The first chapter is called “Gods and Monsters”.
As of November 2026, the DCU has delivered three movies and three shows, including one animated project, four mature-audience projects, and two PG-13 projects.
James Gunn has made it clear that individual stories come first; crossover stories and stories that lead to a big bad aren’t a concern for the DCU. The idea is to let the audience jump into any story or genre without worrying about what comes before or after.
Here is a full breakdown of the shows and movies in the DCU, in release order:
Creature Commandos (2024)

It stars Frank Grillo as Rick Frag Sr., Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana, David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Indira Varma as The Bride, Alan Tudyk as Doctor Phosphorus, Steve Agee as John Economos, Zoe Chao as Dr Nina Mazursky and Sean Gunn as Weasel and G.I. Robot.

Danielle Brooks returns as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, and Dee Bradley Baker as Eagly, with new additions of Sol Rodriguez as Sasha Bordeaux and Tim Meadows as Langston Furry.
Supergirl (2026)

Format: PG-13 Live-action Film

Despite the DCU being a big win for the eyes of audiences, critics and the box office, Supergirl was its first failure and a bigger failure in DC history overall. Milly Alcock returns to the screen as Kara Zor-El after her brief cameo in 2025’s Superman.
The movie, directed by Craig Gillespie, follows Kara Zor-El on a journey to find herself after the trauma of losing her entire home and people; she is accompanied by a young girl, Ruthye (Eve Ridley), who lost her family to a rapist and child-trafficking bandit, Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts).
Lanterns (2026)
