The start of the DCU was met with a big confusion: “What part of the DCEU is canon to the new DCU? ” Every fortnight, fans will storm James Gunn’s comments with questions, leading him to launch the DC Studios Showcase one-off podcast “The Suicide Squad: ‘Is It Canon?’ to answer these questions.
In this podcast, we got confirmation of the following:
- DCU Batman is yet to be cast
- Batman casting “isn’t very far”.
- DCU Batman will be the best actor for the role, not just a movie star.
- Batman and Superman will be around the same age.
- Bloodsport did put down Superman with a Kryptonite bullet.
- The Suicide Squad is DCU canon with “one small asterisk” – the future of Harley Queen.
We also learnt that if Margot Robbie decides to return as Harley Quinn, her character would be worked into the DCU.
James Gunn did confirm that death in the movie is canon to the DCU. Also, he mentioned a shelved ‘Polka-Dot Man’ prequel series focusing on “his mother & her many superhero children.”
